This scene where Gandalf falls at the Bridge of Khazad Dum and what follows of the Fellowship on the rocks is one of my favourite parts of the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. Most of all, I love the reactions of Aragorn and Frodo as the ones most affected by the loss of Gandalf. The portrayal of grief is incredible.

I think I love it today even more than the Lighting of the Beacon of Amon Din scenes, which was pure cinematographic bliss - one of those things you just have to capitalise on when you're making the movie version of a book. It becomes Not Just a Few Lines On a Page. Suddenly, it's Solid Evidence of Hope.

No coincidence that both scenes have some of THE best music in the whole trilogy. Wah! Wah! Wah!
