Sport craves change, it spurns predictability, yet they argued, insistently and emotionally, against it. As tournaments concluded, there they were again, Swiss and Spaniard, silk trying to wrap steel, and somehow it was vaguely comforting.

...We relish change, yet are grateful for their offering. Rivalries like this are gifts to generations and none better, in any sport, was had in ours. They made us stay up nights, swallow nails, levitate from sofas, argue like kids and believe in magic.
